In this resource, students will be asked to use a graphic organizer in order to identify and track the development of theme and character in a literary text. Students will use evidence from the text to construct an evidence based response.

The students will learn about the importance of responsibility, dependability, punctuality, honesty, and effort in the workplace through the reading of the book, "Mr. Griggs' Work." The students will have the opportunity to explore these character traits in their own work setting.

Madeline Noonan starts every class day with a morning meeting. Students use vocabulary to describe how they're feeling, practice speaking in front of peers, and gain trust by sharing a little about themselves. A daily "greeting" adds a bit of fun.

This course provides continued work in the development of play scripts for the theater. Writers work on sustained pieces in weekly workshop meetings, individual consultation with the instructor, and in collaboration with student actors, directors, and designers. Fully developed scripts are eligible for inclusion in the Playwrights' Workshop Production.

In this blended lesson supporting literacy skills, students watch video dramatizations of Percy Julian's struggles with racism and how he refused to let it limit his possibilities in life. Students develop their literacy skills as they explore an English language arts focus on understanding character. During this process, they read informational text, learn and practice vocabulary words, and explore content through videos and interactive activities. Overview: In this lesson, students read background information on the life of William Carlos Williams. They closely examine and analyze a few of Williams' poems in order to understand his craft and the literary movement in which he formed his craft. Students explore different components of his poetry and then practice their own critical and poetry writing skills in an emulation exercise. 

In this lab, students will discuss what movies and dramas they have watched. They will share their favorite movie or drama and give a simple summary of it. Students will learn to describe plot, characters, and action of a story. Additionally, they will describe preferences and explain the reason behind their preferences.
