Unit Description

In this unit, you will investigate the surface area and volume of different shapes. Surface area is a measure of how much space a surface covers. Thevolume of a container tells you how much the container will hold. You will learn how to find the area of both regular and irregular shapes, such as a triangle or the surface of a lake. You will also learn how to make a 3-D figure out of a net, and how to find the volume of that figure. At the end of the unit, you will use your new skills to tackle a real-world problem of how to pack a truck most efficiently.
