Middle and High School educators across Lebanon County, Pennsylvania developed lesson plans to integrate the Pennsylvania Career Education and Work Standards with the content they teach. This work was made possible through a partnership between the South Central PA Workforce Investment Board (SCPa Works) and Lancaster-Lebanon Intermediate Unit 13 (IU13) and was funded by a Teacher in the Workplace Grant Award from the Pennsylvania Department of Labor and Industry. This lesson plan was developed by one of the talented educators who participated in this project during the 2019-2020 school year.

23 Things is a suite of 23 self-paced online modules that cover a range of topics from video editing to basic coding. Each module or 'thing' consists of information, interactive activities, and invitations to try out various open and free software applications and technologies. The modules have been created using H5P and can be downloaded individually as a single H5P file, modified and re-used under a CC-BY-SA licence - simply click on the 'reuse' link at the bottom of each module.

The content was created by Curtin University students as part of a 'students as partners' project.

In this activity, students will learn about and apply the engineering design process to solve a problem. The activity frames the problem around designing, building and testing a paper bridge that maximizes the weight it holds.

This PowerPoint is a generic description of the Engineering Design Process that walks students through the 6 step process that works in a continual loop of defining the problem, generate concepts, develop a solution, construct and test a prototype, evaluate a solution, and present a solution. This PowerPoint offers stopping points to encourage question and answer sessions as well as discussion opportunities if teachers choose to relate it to a particular problem. It was originally posted and authored by Alexandrea Dunkelberger.

In this activity, students will learn about and apply the Engineering Design Process to solve a problem. While working through the steps of the Engineering Design process they will focus on defining the criteria and constraints of a design problem, learn about scientific principles of simple machines, understand tool and machine safety, and create a prototype solution to the problem. The activity frames the problem around researching, designing, building and testing a prototype that is built with at least one simple machine that will launch a ball into a target. At end of unit students test their prototypes and present their findings of working through the process.
