Multiples and Least Common Multiples
Materials: dry erase markers and erasers; hundreds boards
Activity:
Students mark an "X" on every third number on hundred board to 100. Students mark an "O" on every fourth number on hundred board to 100.
Students then identify the numbers that have an "X" and an "O".
Teacher: "These are the multiples of 3 and 4." "What is the smallest of these numbers?" "This is the Least Common Multiple."
Have students repeat activity with several other pairs of numbers: 6 & 7, 11 & 9, 8 & 10
