Date: July 1, 2016 Grade Level: Kindergarten
Concept: Be able to identify colors correctly.
Objectives: Students will identify colors without prompting.
*Edited Objective: Students will be able to identify colors correctly with 80% accuracy without prompting.
Introduction: We will be learning the basic colors, the colors of the rainbow. The ultimate goal of this lesson is to memorize each color. We will be doing many activities to do this.
Vocabulary: Red, Orange, Yellow, Green, Blue, Purple
Body of Lesson: Color sorting activity – students will be given a muffin tin with 6 sections along with pony beads in red, orange, yellow, green, blue, and purple. Students will be asked to divide the beads by color, putting one color into each section of the muffin tin. Students will be asked to name each color in each muffin compartment.
Accommodations/Modifications: Lower Level – Multiple Choice Questions; Higher Level – Fill in the Blank Questions
Multiple Intelligence(s) Addressed: Visual: Students will identify colors on paper. Kinesthetic: Students will divide objects by colors.
Assessment: Summative Assessment - Students will be shown flashcards and asked to name the colors, without assistance.
