Indiana Standard: WH.3.12 Compare and contrast the developments and achievements of the Maya, Aztec and Inca civilizations.

Objective: Students will be able to identify and recall information about the Ancient South American civilizations, and to compare and contrast the Ancient South American civilizations to the Aztec and Mayan civilizations.

Procedure: Students will view a video lecture over the Ancient Incans. Students are encouraged to take notes over the main concepts and content presented.

Product or Assessment: Students will imagine they have just returned from a trip to South America, and while on their trip, they visited the historic sites of the Moche, Nazca, and the Incas. Students will be writing a letter back home to a friend or family member telling them about what they saw, learned, and experienced. In their letters students will also compare the elements of the Ancient South American civilizations to the elements of the Mayan and Aztec civilizations.
