Global Understanding Project – (Country Bingo)

Objective: Students will research a country’s culture, history, political and education system.

The information will be presented in visual form and presented to the class. Students in the class will be given a blank BINGO card. They will also be given a list of countries. Each student will write in the name of a country for each square on the card. Duringthe presentation of a country, the students will try to guess the country and mark his/her card. A prize will be given out for those students who had a Country BINGO!


TASK

1. Answer the questions on this sheet.

2. On a poster paper, draw or use an electronic resource (i.e. powerpoint, imovie) the flag of your country. DO NOT PLACE OR SPEAK THE NAME OF THE COUNTRY.

3. Using the answers to the questions on this sheet, prepare to present your country to the class. You might want to attach the answers to the question to the back of your flag poster so you can look at your notes while presenting.

4. DO NOT TELL – ANYONE WHAT YOUR COUNTRY IS….THIS IS A GUESSING GAME…THE CLASS WILL HAVE TO GUESS THE COUNTRY YOU ARE PRESENTING AND THEN MARK THEIR COUNTRY BINGO CARDS.

SCORING RUBRIC

___22 points for written answers

___3 points for flag (must be correct colors/symbols)

___ 5 points for presentation (speak clearly, make eye contact, understanding of topic)

Resources Needed:

1) Students should have access to the internet or library resources

2) A blank BINGO card

3) List of countries from around the world

1) What type of games and sports do they play?

2) What are some of their holidays?

3) Describe their education system.

4) Describe the life of a typical kid in that country.
