Apply a lens

 

After you view the video "Testify" by Common, read the lyrics, apply one of the critical lenses. How is gender portrayed? Class? Race? What is the motivation behind the characters in the video?

On the discussion board, let's talk what you observed when you first watched the video. Then discuss if watching the video from a specific perspective (considering gender, class, etc) changed the way you saw the conflict, character(s), etc.? Also, you can discuss any questions you have and try to answer them. Questions will help us to think more deeply about the subject. Consider the lyrics as well.
