Indiana Standard:
Counseling Competencies: Social/Emotional Development
Competency 1: Students will acquire and further develop the knowledge, attitudes and interpersonal skills to help them understand and respect self and others.
Competency 2: Students develop personal management and collaborative skills needed to become successful learners, responsible citizens, and productive workers.
Competency 3: Students will understand personal safety skills.
Objective:
- Students will be able to understand and articulate what integrity means.
- Students will work in groups to prepare a presentation concerning integrity.
- Students will work in groups to present their answers to the given questions concerning integrity.
Procedure:
- Day 1: The teacher will deliver the Integrity Google document to students. Students will spend approximately 15 minutes viewing the videos and reading the text. The remaining 15 minutes of this class period can be used to have a class discussion on integrity using the Integrity Discussion & Activity document and begin the activity by explaining the assignment and dividing the class into groups. If appropriate, give the groups time to work.
- Day 2: Groups will continue to work on presentations for a short time. Then groups will present.
Product or Assessment: Day 1: none
Day 2: group oral reports and presentations
Accommodations:
- Some groups may not work well and therefore may need the teacher to assign roles to specific students in order to complete the task.
- Rather than having a lot of presentations that turn out to be very similar, the teacher could assign certain questions to specific groups and have them present. This would help out with time restraints as well.
Enrichment:
- Ask the students for ideas about how to teach others about integrity using technology. Some ideas may include making an online poster using Glogster, making a Google Slide presentation, acting out skits on IMovie.
