Duration: 75-90 minutes

Indiana Standard:

6.C.2: Compute with positive fractions and positive decimals fluently using a standard algorithmic approach

Objectives: Students will be able to:

  1. Reduce a fraction
  2. Recognize and make equivalent fractions.
  3. Convert between improper fractions and mixed numbers (or whole numbers).
  4. Place fractions on a number line.

Procedure: The teacher will deliver the Google document titled Fraction Review to students. The students will…

  1. Take notes on reducing fractions. Watch a video. Practice on IXL.
  2. Take notes on equivalent fractions. Watch a video. Practice on IXL.
  3. Take vocabulary notes. Take reducing improper fractions notes.
  4. Take notes on converting between improper fractions and mixed numbers and/or whole numbers.. Watch the videos. Practice on IXL.
  5. Watch two videos about fractions on a number line. Work some practice problems from the video. Practice the  fifth grade IXL standard listed.
