GAFE - Google Apps for Education
Key Concepts
This module will highlight three online applications that can we used to engage students: (1) Google Forms, (2) Nearpod, and (3) PearDeck

Google Forms

GAFE (preferred) or Google Apps Account
Description:
Google Forms is a component of the GAFE suite. The tool provides a means to obtain formative assessment data which is automatically entered into a Google Sheets. Google Forms can be used with the Google Visualization toolkit to create online graphics or download as CSV or Excel for further data analysis.
A 3-2-1 Survey is provided as an example.

Description:
Nearpod is a web-based application that provides content creators with a presentation tool as well as student response system. The application is designed to work with a mobile device (tablet recommended) however, it can also be used with a presentation laptop.
Nearpod leverages the content creator's knowledge of presentation software to build slides. Slides are exported from the presentation as images and then uploaded to Nearpod for interactions.

Description:
PearDeck is a web-based application which uses GAFE to manage all information. Presentations are store within Google Drive automatically and the solution is ideal in a Chromebook environment. Individuals upload media and resource to Google Drive and then organize the presentation through the PearDeck interface.

1. Seesaw
What: Digital portfolio and collaboration tool
Why: Seesaw provides a "shareable" digital portfolio which can be used to communicate from the classroom to parents and students. Students learn how to curate their own materials in an online world.
What: Digital Content Repository
Why: DE provides education communities with content, assessment, and "networking" tools. Videos from within the DE library can be arranged and sequence with in the DE Assessment Builder providing a true multimedia experience in and out of the classroom.
3. Kahoot!
What: Game show style response system
Why: Kahoot! provides instructors with a way to turn questions into a game show style quiz. The tool can be used with small groups or individual against individual.
