ONLINE SCHOOL SETTING:

Student Online Functioning Skills Assessment- Determine The Likelihood of Student Readiness

QUESTION: How likely is it that your student will be successful in an online school setting?


Purpose and uses of this assessment:

  • Use this skills assessment to determine the LIKELIHOOD of a students success in the online school setting.

  • Compare student, teacher and parent answers to the same questions.

  • Reassess to track progress.

  • Students are allowed to self assess.


TEACHER DIRECTIONS:

  1. Copy the Online School Student Functioning Skills Assessment- Student Readiness form and save it by adding your name or school name in front of the title. You will have access to survey answers by making your own copy. **NOTE: IF YOU DO NOT USE YOUR OWN COPY, YOU WILL NOT SEE YOUR FORM ANSWERS.  

  2. Invite students, parents and teachers to answer the assessment questions in the form.

  3. Use the rubric below to assess student readiness from each participant.

  4. Use the data collected to drive instruction, interventions and progress monitoring.




STUDENT DIRECTIONS:

  1. Open up the Readiness Form and answer the questions using the rubric 1-4.

  2. You get credit for taking it not for the score you get so be honest with yourself here.

  3. Be open to discussing your score with a parent or teacher and discuss your Online Skills Readiness Score (they will have that score and share it with you.)

  4. Challenge yourself and find ways to improve your score next time.

  5. Chart your progress by recording your score on this form each month.


NOTE TO STUDENTS: This survey will tell you the likelihood of your success in the online school setting with the current skills you have. Increasing the skills in this survey will increase the likelihood of your success online because the stronger your functioning skills, the more likely you are to engage in school and receive support. Being honest here now can help you be even more successful later. Everyone starts somewhere! Take it now and again in a month. Compare and see if your score has improved. Good luck!
