QUALITY INDICATORS AND BENCHMARKING IN HIGHER EDUCATION

ABSTRACT

 

Education process all over the world and in particular in our industry has been undergoing rapid changes in the areas such as setting quality standards, opening new avenues in collaborative, efforts and style of functioning etc. There is an urgent need for redesigning and rebuilding education system in our country, so as to overcome the difficulties which restrict the development of the system in rapidly changing academic environment. Even some of the developing countries of the east have surpassed us in the field of academic restructuring of education who were trailing far behind our country.

 

The world has been racing ahead with newer and newer concept in quality management; the time has become ripe for imbibing these basic concepts of quality in students at a very young age. And to condition the student effectively for quality output, it is necessary for teacher to equip themselves with latest knowledge in quality management.   An attempt has been made in this paper to discuss different parameters of management for assessing the quality of institution and basic issues related to the significance of performance and benchmarking are discussed.
