The Whimsy Project
The Whimsy Project is a school-wide PBL project originally designed and conducted at Tri-County Early College High School in the Fall of 2017. Rooted in Tony Wagner's book, "Creating Innovators," which emphasized, among other things, the need for students to experience "play" in order to grow their innovative spirit, this project was designed to have students design, build, and exhibit products that require a significant amount of creativity and whimsy as they explore academic concepts and connections to language arts, math, and science. The project offers three paths which stem from three science topic areas: Alien Abduction from earth and environmental science, Procession of the Species from biology, and A Rube Goldberg Machine from physics.
