A Guide to the First Screens You Will Encounter Upon Finale Startup


This is the screen you will see upon opening Finale. There are options to open templates or current projects, but for this module we will use the Setup Wizard. Click the top button on the left side.

Finale has many preset ensembles to choose from, but for this module we will create a new one. Keep the settings as they are on this page and click Next.

We will first add piano to our score. Select Keyboards in the right hand panel, then Piano in the middle panel. Click add and piano will appear in the right hand panel. Click Next.

Select Woodwinds in the left hand panel then Flute in the middle panel. Click Add and the flute will appear with the piano in the right hand panel.

Add text such as title, subtitle, and composer.
