Description of Activity
This interpretive listening and presentational writing task aligns with a novice-level unit about school supplies. This task is tiered by complexity of product (how students show what they know).
Step 1 – Interpretive Listening – Tiered Task
Note that for this to be a true listening task, students should not watch the video. They should listen to the audio without being able to see the video. After listening to audio, you could show the video to all students to check their answers with the visuals.
While students are listening, they complete sections I and II. The questions in section II are tiered.
- A – Multiple choice answers
- B – Cloze sentence answers
- C – Free response
Step 2 – Presentational Writing
Students compare their own school supplies to the video. Vocabulary and sentence starters are given to tiers A and B to provide additional support.
