Description of Activity

This interpretive listening activity focuses on time and basic activity verbs. It can also be used to expose students to the third person plural "they" verbs in a concept attainment activity, in which students attempt to deduce the grammatical rule or pattern for third person plural verbs based on the context.

Steps to complete activity:

1. The handout has two copies of the same lines, and should be cut in half for two students.

2. Students cut apart each line of the song.

3. Students listen and arrange lines from song, while also filling in the blanks. (They will need to listen multiple times.)

4. When students are confident with their results, they glue the lines in the correct order.
5. Possible extension activities:
1. Students illustrate each line.
2. Students act out each line.
3. Teacher draws students' attention to verbs in sentences and asks them to identify patterns.
4. Students create their own song following the same pattern.
