Introduction and structural elements

Let us start with the minor literary type,the Short Story. It is a story,but a novella and a  novel also tell us stories.The short story is brief as compared to the two other genres mentioned.We may first get the dictionary meaning first.According to Longman Dictionary of Contemporary English, short story is a short written story about imaginary characters and situations.It is a work of fiction.Now,we  try to understand what (elements/structure) makes a short story.The structural elements in a short story are:

Setting

Plot

Character

Theme

Mood

Apart from these five elements, we need to know how conflict and suspense play significant role in making an effective story.
