Instructional Plan:

Anticipatory Set/Pre-Activity:

Must have previously taught overhand throw and catching skill cues.

You will need to explain how they will self assess with their partner with their plicker magnets.

Benefits/Explanation/Real-World Connection:

Activities (i.e. instructions, warm-up, lesson, cool-down):

Warm Up: Spiderman Hiit Workout

Activity: No More

Divide students in to two. Split the gym into two different teams. When the music starts student's begin to overhand throw with their partner. Once they throw and catch 10 balls with their partner (does not have to be in a row) they run to their teams basket and grab one bean bag (each) and run it to the other teams basket on the other side of the gym. Partners will then go and exchange their equipment for a new type ball and try and throw and catch 10 more and repeat the process of grabbing a bean bag from their teams basket and running it to the opposite teams basket. Students have 10-12 minutes to see how many different balls they can catch while using the plicker magnets to track their progress. (If you do not have plicker magnets they can still do this activity and just switch out their type of equipment when they want.) Game continues until time is up or if one team has "no more" bean bags.

Supplemental Information:

Modifications:

Students can choose from a variety of balls that are different sizes. You can change the throwing distance for students to be closer or farther away.

Safety Precautions:

Make sure that when running to get/give bean bags students are running on the outside of the playing area to avoid being hit by a thrown ball. Remind students to to show that they are "ready" before they throw the ball.

Comments (adaptations for various grades/ages, teaching styles, etc.)
