Elective Courses Decisions
Description
This year our school has several new elective courses available to the students in addition to the many we already offer to students. The problem that lies here is that they are new courses and students don’t know much about these courses. So the only way currently for students to get information about these new courses is from their peers. Which isn’t always the best because the information they receive from other students is all opinionated. Although students can still make the decision of what courses they would like to take with this information. They can not make a well informed decision with that information. This problem could be solved by using the GoPro cameras to create a video highlighting all of the elective courses we offer at our school. By doing this it would allow students to make more informed decisions on what courses to take because it’s going to highlight some activities they can expect to do in the class as well as give them an idea of what the environment is like in that class. This video would improve the education process because it’s giving students a resource to make informed decisions on the non-tradition electives they choose to take. In addition this would hopefully reduce the amount of classes being dropped and then picked up because they will already know if this class will be suited for them.
By using GoPro cameras compared to other cameras students will have the ability to keep their hands free while recording something such as a dissection, the process of creating a drawing, or playing the guitar because they can utilize the GoPro’s head mount capabilities. Creating such a video with a normal camera would be hindering to the student recording because one hand would always have to be holding the camera. While, if they were to be recording with a GoPro and they were utilizing it’s head mount capabilities they’re hands free allowing them to be more focused on class while making this video. For the student that’s recording in an elective this is very important because a lot of the courses being offered will require students to be hands on and utilizing both hands for example a dissection would require both hands so the only way for a the student to record and dissect would be by using a head mounted GoPro to record.
The video would put the viewer into the student’s perspective as they would be viewing everything that said student is viewing from their point of view, as the student would be wearing the camera. This would give the video a better feel to it rather than if you were to just record the entire class with a normal camera. This type of recording would allow viewers to be able to imagine themselves as experiencing such things during that very class. By feeling this way the viewing students would be best able to relate with what the student making the recording is experience and hopefully make them more interested in this class.
