As the person responsible for General Education Assessment at Palo Alto College, I collaborated with faculty to design a rubric used to evaluate student assignments at the institutional level.
Use this assessment form while students complete group assignments. Each student completed the assessment form and submit it to the instructor. Faculty may assign points based on the student comments of one another.
Please give instructions to students on using the form otherwise they will rate one another a four without justifying ratings.
Strategies to use this form:
1. Require students to justify ratings on the first page by using specific verbiage on the ratings to evaluate their peers. Incomplete written comments may yield a reduction in points of the instructor prefers.
2. Provide students a maximum number of points they may assign for peers so students do not rate all group members a "4".
