Thoughtful Classroom Tool (name and book title/page)Grading Rubrics
Teacher NameGrade/Subjects Taught Mrs. Jen Hill 2nd grade teacher/Beginning of the year
Brief Tool DescriptionWhat is its purpose? Is it for a particular dimension of the Thoughtful Classroom framework? What do the teacher and students do during the strategy that make it valuable? The rubric that I used is the general diocesean grading rubric for K-2nd grade.  I wanted to demonstrate how I would grade my students work so that they would take ownership. We made the attached rubric together and talked about what needs to go into their school work to achieve a 4, 3, 2, or a 1.  I used a birthday cake to represent the examples of each grade. then the students had to teach their parents for homework.
Example(s) of How to Use the Tool in the ClassroomDoes it lend itself best to a particular subjects? Have you used the strategy successfully with a particular topic? Is there a lesson you can describe that illustrates how to use it?*See attachment
Suggestions for AdaptationsCould it be easily adapted for a higher/lower grade? For a different subject area? For assessment?  I think Grading Rubrics could easily be used at every level.
