Description of the Lesson

Overview

Students will watch Online Safety Videos and complete digital activities that go along with the videos.

ISTE Standard

2b Students practice and encourage others in safe, legal and ethical behavior when using technology and interacting online, with guidance from an educator.

NE Standard

Nebraska Responsible Use Standards: Identify and explain the strategies for the safe and efficient use of computers (passwords, virus protection software, etc.

Watch Online Safety Video on Brain Pop.

Students will click on Google Form link on Google Classroom. The Google Form gives students scenarios and the students decide whether they are safe or not safe. Then they are to list at least 4 online safety rules.

Students will complete the consequence chart of describing what can happen if scammers obtain certain types of information on Google Drawing. Students will click on the assignment on Google Classroom of the blank Consequence Chart and turn the completed organizer in on Google Classroom.

WRAP-UP/Assessment: Sum up the lesson and Assess Students. Provide opportunities to further student learning.

Students will pair-share with neighbor strategies they will start using to stay safe online.

The teacher will pick two non-volunteers to share their strategies.
