Instructional Plan:
Anticipatory Set/Pre-Activity:
Students will go to Schoology and complete the bellringer discussion board with this question:
- Consider a club, organization, or team that you belong to. Identify and discuss what qualities you would look for in selecting a leader for that group.
Benefits/Explanation/Real-World Connection:
See bellringer above for real-world connection for students.
Activities (i.e. instructions, warm-up, lesson, cool-down):
Students will read this section of the chapter on the management process and we will discuss, complete activities, review, and be assessed at the end of the chapter.
After students have learned the objectives, they will complete two activities:
1. 4 Functions of Management Poster (I put these instructions on Schoology):
You can use any of the following:
- PowerPoint, Word, Publisher
- Google slides, docs, drawing
- bighugelabs.com, canva.com
See my example in this folder.... you will make a one-page poster with the title of "Functions of Management" and the name of each function along with a picture that you think goes with that function. Please add your name in the corner. You will then print it in color in the library and hang it on our bulletin board.
Example:
2. Students will either find a cartoon or Venn diagram/chart that shows the difference between leading and managing based on what they learned today. They will then upload these to a shared padlet. See example padlet:
Closure:
The exit ticket would be to tweet about what you learned today using at least two hashtags and no more than 140 characters. This could be done on a twitter post template, on Schoology, or on your whiteboard.
Assessment :
The activities above could be graded using a rubric to assess what they have learned. Also, at the end of the full chapter, they will complete a study guide similar to the one below and then would take a test on Schoology.
Supplemental Information:
Modifications:
HAL students could make a cartoon or Venn diagram instead of finding one online. They may want to look at samples online if they are making one of their own.
