Average Weather Conditions Formative Assessment
Weather is described by the temperature, precipitation, and wind speed. Temperature is measured in degrees Celsius (℃), precipitation is measured in millimeters (mm), and wind speed is measured in meters per second (mps). Weather conditions for an entire month can be combined in an average. Average weather conditions can be used to identify patterns. This table shows four summer months and the average weather during those months.
Month | Average High Temperature (℃) | Average precipitation (mm) | Average wind speed (mps) | Average wind direction |
June | 30° | 105 | 4 | southwest |
July | 32° | 83 | 5 | southwest |
August | 32° | 86 | 5 | southeast |
September | 28° | 104 | 6 | south |

1. Look at the table. What was the average temperature during August?
2. Look at the table. Which month had the highest precipitation?
3. Based on the information in the table, how does temperature affect precipitation?
