Hook
When summarizing a reading assignment, what essential information should be included?
Description
After reading “The Most Dangerous Game” by Richard Connell, students will view a PowerPoint featuring three different strategies to summarize text.
Students will use two of the three strategies and summarize "The Most Dangerous Game". They must show their pre-writing and final paragraphs and submit it to Canvas in a Word document using MLA format.
Closure
Students will submit their summaries and discuss which strategy they thought was the easiest to use as well as the most difficult.
Assessment
Teachers will use a simple checklist when evaluating paragraphs.
- Did the student use the strategy correctly?
- Is all necessary information included in the summary?
- Did the student include pre-writing?
- Did the student use complete sentences and correct punctuation?
