Linking Sections of the Text

Key Learning Progressions for W.9-10.1c:  Linking Sections of the Text

The language of W.9-10.1c instructs students to use words, phrases, and clauses to link the major sections of the text, and to clarify relationships between the other elements of the paper. (i.e. claims, counterclaims, reasons, evidence, conclusion)  Essentially, this standard requires students to use written language to create. effective transition sentences between each section of the text, in order that the paper flows logically and displays cohesion.  The following is one strategy that can help to incorporate this standard in the writing process.
