Audience and Purpose: Final Day

I Can Statement
I can evaluate the effectiveness of an author’s work based on audience and purpose.
Summary
Students will present their final products to the class, who will discuss and grade the effectiveness of each product.
Procedures
5 minutes- Students will complete bell ringer as teacher takes attendance and completes any housekeeping items.
5 minutes- Go over bell ringer
5 minutes- explain assignment, how each student will be graded, and how they are to grade each other. Have students get into groups and decide on presentation format
30 minutes- Groups will present their projects in the manner they select. After each group has finished presenting. We will have a brief discussion over how they did, did they reach their audience, what they could have done better.
10 minutes- Final discussion on audience and the projects. Students will assign a letter grade to each group and to each member of their own group, including themselves.
