After differentiating between precision and accuracy, students will perform a lab that helps them learn which lab equipment is appropriate for measuring liquids.
Students will then calculate absolute error and percent error.
Students will independently write the hypothesis, variable, and controls for a lab. Students will learn to read an alcohol thermometer. Students will calculate the rate of change in temperature.
Students will research the physical properties of iron, sand, and salt to figure out how to separate a mixture of the three. Then students will write and perform a lab based on their physical properties.
Students will learn the proper technique for using a mortar and pestle. Students will be able to write their own lab and determine what type of data to collect, complete with hypothesis, variable, control, equipment, procedure, and data table. Then students will perform the lab they have written.
Students will perform a lab to help in understand the need for prior knowledge when writing a hypothesis. Students will also differentiate between a variable and controls by examining the data collected.
