    This lesson plans helps students prepare for the agricultural industry and storytelling through social media. Students will learn how impactful social media can be and learn about those in the industry already paving the way to advocate for our industry.

    My grandpa didn’t have social media to share about his farm, why does social media matter in agriculture?

    Students will analyze and create their own social media plan to promote agriculture.

    • Materials: Students will need to have phones that they can access social media on, at least one per group.


     

    Interest Approach

    Tell students, today for class, we get to scroll through instagram. Assign each student or group fo students a few agriculture social media accounts. Students should note a few things that they like about this social media page. Give them 5 minutes to scroll throug, give a basic summary behind the account, and 3 things they really like. Here are a few examples of instragram account but use whatever accounts you like!

    Content/Procedure/Activity

    1. Read the article about 3 agriculturalists paving the way on social media. Discuss with the students why their content is so important to tell agriculture's story. 

    2. Students will create their own social media posts using the document social media posts assignment.

    3. Students will peer review their social media posts and give feedback using the peer review document. 

    4. Optional: Invite a guest speaker to share their social media experience.
