    Overview

    In this activity, students will practice shopping using a list to purchase a variety of household items. The students will ask each other questions to find items on their list.

    Household Shopping / Haushalt Einkaufen

    Description

    In this activity, students will practice shopping using a list to purchase a variety of household items. The students will ask each other questions to find items on their list.

    Materials Needed

    Warm-Up

    Vocab Brainstorm

    • Vokabel-Brainstorming

    1. Brainstorm the types of rooms in a house.

    • Überlege die verschiedene Zimmern eines Haus. 
    • Compile a list of their ideas to be referenced later, which can be typed in the chat.
    • Mach eine Liste von euer Ideen damit ihr später nachschauen können.

    2. For the different types of rooms, ask students to come up with things that can be found in that room. They have 1 minute to compile a list on their own and then ask them to share ideas with the group.

    • Für jedes Zimmer, sollen die Studenten überlegen was für Sachen man in dem Zimmer finden kann. Sie haben eine Minute um eine Liste selber zu bauen und danach können sie mit der Gruppe teilen.
    • For example: das Schlafzimmer.
    • Students: das Bett, die Lampe, der Nachttisch, die Bettwäsche.

    3. Repeat with the other rooms.

    • Wiederhole das mit den anderen Zimmern.

    Main Activity

    Household Shopping list

    • Einkaufsliste für Haushalte

    1. Have students create their own shopping lists by choosing four items from the larger list.

    • Studenten sollen ihre eigene Einkaufsliste machen mit vier Sachen von die größere Liste.

    2. Go over the proper way to ask for something and how they, as the store owners, would respond.

    • Wiederhole der richtige weg wie man für etwas fragt, und wie sie, als Ladenbesitzer antworten wurden.

    3. This can be written in the chat if necessary. Remind students about the Akkusativ.

    • Dies kann bei Bedarf im Chat geschrieben werden. Schüler an den Akkusativ erinnern

     

    • For example: “Guten Tag, ich brauche eine Lampe” oder “Hallo, haben Sie eine Lampe?”
    • “Ja, wir haben eine Lampe” oder “Nein, wir haben keine Lampe”
      • (this is also good practice for the accusative since brauchen/haben go with Akkusativ)
      • (dies ist auch eine gute Übung für den Akkusativ, da brauchen/haben mit Akkusativ gehen)

    4. Put students into breakout rooms. Assign a few of them be sellers and a few of them be buyers.

    • Studenten sollen in Zoom Breakoutzimmern gehen. Weisen Sie einige von ihnen als Verkäufer und einige als Käufer zu.

    5. Have the students who are buying ask the sellers if they have the item. The seller will check their own list they have made and if they have also chosen that item, then they can say they have the item.

    • Studenten sollen die Ladenbesitzern fragen ob sie die Sachen haben. Die Ladenbesitzer werden ihre eigene Liste nachschauen um zu sehen ob sie diese Sachen haben, wenn ja, können sie sagen dass sie es haben. 

     

    • They might also choose to add how much the item costs.
    • Sie können auch entscheiden ob sie die Kost des Sachen dazufügen.

    6. Then close the break-out rooms and re-pair students and have them go over this again.

    • Dann schließe die Breakoutzimmern und mache neue Paaren damit Studenten könne alles wiederhollen.

    Wrap-Up

    Ask students the following question(s) to finish the activity:

    • Welche Dinge auf deiner Liste hast du gekauft? Welche nicht? (What things on your list did you buy? Which ones did you not?)

    • Read Can-Do statements once more and have students evaluate their confidence.
      (Use thumbs up/thumbs down or download our student cards.)
    • Encourage students to be honest in their self-evaluation.
