Starter Files for Office Documents

by Steven Schwarz 6 months, 4 weeks ago

Hello,

The text mentions that starter files will be available. However, I cannot find them in the instructor or student resources.

This is a direct quote from the preface:

Data files. Some chapters are accompanied by downloadable data files (typically in .xlsx, .docx, or .csv format) that provide students with the data needed to perform certain assessments, exercises, or in-text examples. Providing the data files to students reduces the amount of unnecessary typing and allows the student to jump right into manipulating the data.

Can anyone advise?

It looks like they are links located throughout the book. For example, p. 347 under the paragraph "The Main Document" it has a link to a downloadable Mail Merge document that looks like it is what you are looking for. I see quite a few on p. 1078 also.

Thanks again. I've noticed that most of the links redirect to outside resources. The mail merge document does link to a file on the OpenStax server. I'm sure, like you suggested, that there are others in the text. I was hoping for a single zip containing all the starter files similar to what publishers like Pearson provide. However, it's still an amazing resource considering the price.

Hi Steve,

OpenStax just added the data files for select chapters to the Instructor Resources tab of Workplace Software and Skills: https://openstax.org/details/books/workplace-software-skills?Instructor%20resources. You can find the files on the Data Files square, or by visiting this page: https://drive.google.com/drive/folders/1N3-WHXxZDE4D7IkpaJn-OAbrnNHdIChX.

Best,

Lindsay
