Introduction

This general woodworking activity will show 9th grade students how to build a birdhouse at home. They will research designs and use the materials shown to build their own birdhouse. An instructional video has been added to aide them in completion of their design.

Pre-Activity

1. The students will research birdhouse designs in small groups. Each student will develop a birdhouse design that they will use to build their birdhouse.

2. They will watch the instructional video together.

3. Organize work stations throughout the shop.

Activity

All students will build their birdhouses using the design they have researched.

Assessment

The teacher will assess each students birdhouse. The student will walk the teacher through the development of the birdhouse using their birdhouse design.
