Interactive Outdoor School Journal
Archery
In preparation for your archery session during outdoor school watch the following video and answer the questions.
How does the bow store up enough energy to launch an arrow?
What kind of energy is this?
Fish
While at school you will have the opportunity to do some fishing and learn about animals and their adaptations to live within their chosen environments. Here is a video with some information about fish and an adaptation they have formed to live in their environment.
How do fish breath?
What part of the fish performs the breathing and how?
Math
As we have talked about many times, math is part of everything in life. The video that follows talks about this to remind you how many different ways math is used on a daily basis. While you are at outdoor school make a list of all the different aspects of math you noticed or used while attending outdoor school. We will compare these when we get back to the classroom.
Canoes
Canoeing is another activity you'll be able to experience at outdoor school. But how does that or any boat float on top of water. In this video you'll get some information from Olympic athletes about buoyancy and how they utilize it.
What else at outdoor school, aside from the canoes, showed buoyancy?
Rockets
In the past, students have been able to build some paper rockets while at outdoor school. Here is a little bit of information about how these work so that you understand what you will be attempting to do within your experiment.
