 3D Printing   A printer that is connected to a computer and prints three dimensional objects based on the design specifications coming in from a computer. 
 AD  Active Directory is a network database and manages communication between the user and network domains.
 
 Access Point
 A wireless router or a device that connects to a wireless router to allow computers connect to the network.
 
 Badges  A new online standard to recognize and verify learning.  It is a symbol that you receive to indicate accomplishment, skill, quality or interest.
 
 Dashboard  An easy to read, real-time interface that includes a graphical presentation of the current status (snap shot) of an organization.  Dashboards help users within an organization to get a quick view of performance to facilitate decision making.
 
 Hot Spot
 In the field of IT, these are places with wireless network connectivity.
 
 MDM   Mobile Device Management.  The software allows Information Technology departments to dmanage, provision, monitor compliance and support mobile devices within an organization.
 
 BYOD Bring Your Own Device is one of the newest trends, where employees can bring their personal equipment to the workplace and perform work on their personal device.
 
 Thin Clients
 Thin Clients typically lack hard drive and access software  and data from a server.  All thin clients must have a network connection to connect to the server
 
 DaaS   Desktop as a Service
 
 Big Data
  Refers to large amount of data that spans over several storage devices and cannot be processed by a traditional database software.  Example:  Google Search Index, Facebook User List.
 
VDI
  Virtual Desktop Infrastructure refers to the process of hosting full or parts of the desktop operating system and applications on a remote server. 
 Virtual Server
 Virtual servers are not dedicated and share resources with other virtual servers.  Many virtual servers reside on a single physical server leading to better cost and energy saving.
 
 VPN  Allows a user to connect to our institution's network across a public network, such as, Internet as if you are directly connected to the institution's network.
