Vision Statements 

Developing a vision is crucial when you become a administrator. A shared vision that includes all stakeholders in the school community can move the school in a purposeful direction with a common goal. It is important to wait until you have created a relationship with your staff before creating a vision to ensure their is a trust and that you see the same path as the stakeholders. 


Mission 

Mission statements are the statements that indicate how you will get the school to achieve their vision. The mission statements are created with growth in mind and guide school improvement. 

The SMART framework stands for specific, measureable, achievable, relevant, time frame. Ensuring the goals include these important details with make them more comprehensive.   

Steps to create vision/mission statements 

  • create teams and provide definitions and examples of vision/mission statements 
  •  review existing vision/mission statements and determine if there are points to keep
  • Ask questions about what is important to your staff
  • Use data and framework to make vision/mission statements
