Civil War Tour Timeline

Grade Level: 8th Grade

Subject: Social Studies 8

Duration: 1-2 Class periods

Common Core Standards:ELA-LITERACY.RH.6-8.2, ELA-LITERACY.RH.6-8.7, ELA-LITERACY.RH.6-8.5

Objective: Students will create a Prezi Presentation of 7 of the battles of the American Civil War, justifying why they chose each battle as one of their 7.

Procedure: At the completion of the Civil War unit, students should be shown the Crash Course US History “Battles of the Civil War” episode. As students watch the video, they should list battles that have been covered in class. After watching the video, students will be instructed that they have been commissioned to create a virtual tour presentation over the Civil War using Prezi . This tour needs to cover 7 battles of the Civil War and for each battle, they will need to write an explanation of why they chose that battle.
