Remix: Reading for Thesis Practice Quiz: Take One -- Make One (question)
Reading for Thesis Practice Quiz: Take One -- Make One (question)
For this assignment, there are two parts: Part 1 - you will take a quiz, and in Part 2 you will make a quiz question.
Part 1: Take a Quiz
Now that you have completed this module on “Reading for Thesis,” practice what you have learned by taking the Self-Check Thesis Quiz below. This short self-grading quiz will test your skills in evaluating both explicit (stated clearly – no room for doubt!) and implicit (suggested, indirect, only hinted!) thesis statements within texts (articles/essays). The quiz will also assess your ability to predict from the thesis statement the content of the text.
When you have completed the practice quiz, review the answer and explanation for each question.
You can take the Self-Check Thesis Quiz as many times as you like!
Part 2: Make a Quiz
Follow the steps below to create a Thesis Quiz question.
Step 1: Select one topic from the following list:
technology
health
art/culture
economics
Step 2: Find one news article or editorial from one of the following newspapers on the topic you selected from above:
Los Angeles Times
New York Times
Wall Street Journal
Step 3: Based on your article/editorial, write ONE multiple choice quiz question: Which choice best evaluates the thesis of the article or editorial? Make sure to have three possible answer choices, but only one correct answer.
