In this lesson students will practice comprehension skills as they make predictions while listening to the story and recall and sequence events. They will understand how a healthy diet and exercise can increase the likelihood of physical and mental wellness.
This is a reading packet of short readings about different cultures from around the world. The topics vary from clothing, to food, to practices and beliefs. Readings range from one to several paragraphs. Each reading is accompanied by comprehension questions and open-ended questions that students must answer. There is also space for students to record a glossary of new vocabulary words.
The intended audience is English language learners at around an intermediate-low language level.
Provide students an opportunity to read scientific literature, express understanding of scientific content and write a summary of the written work.
Students will warm-up with practice regarding familiar fairy-tales. They will then read or watch a Japanese folk-tale and discuss the story together. They will finish with some questions that analyze the message of the story and compare the story to folk-tales from their home culture.
