Have both the tutorial and your spreadsheet program open and recreate the steps yourself. Once you have experienced the power of a spreadsheet program you will never keep a paper version again. Let’s get started.

This unit will take you through a special type of resource called Open Education Resources (OER) which are available for teachers to use, share and adapt as they need to. You will learn where you can search for these types of resources and to be aware of the different types of licenses that may apply to these kinds of resources.

The Internet and Internet-enabled technologies continue to develop very fast. This has many benefits, but it changes to the way in which learners learn, communicate and interact.

Learners are keen and avid users of the Internet and mobile technologies. They are seen as ‘digital natives’, always surrounded by technologies. There are many social, educational and economic benefits for learners in using ICTs. Learners need to understand what is acceptable and appropriate behaviour in an online society.

Teaching with technology is not always simple, especially if our aim is to improve the quality of the learning that is happening in our classrooms. Because technology is generally pretty expensive and takes quite a bit of effort of organise and care for, it makes sense that we would want to get our money’s worth by making sure that the end product – the quality of learning – is as good as it can be and keeps improving. Otherwise, why bother?

In this unit, we are going to learn about one of the most popular and useful frameworks to help us think about teaching well and effectively with technology. It is called the TPaCK framework. TPaCK is short for Technological, Pedagogical and Content Knowledge.

This unit is part 2 of a 2 part series. In the previous unit, we introduced the TPaCK framework and explored some of its basics. The assignment for the last unit was to play the TPaCK game which should have started to help you think about how you could apply TPaCK to your subject and classroom.

If you have not yet completed Unit 25, you should do so before starting this unit.

In this unit, we will take a much closer look at how to use TPaCK to think about the integration of technology in a number of different subjects as well as how to plan learning activities using the framework.
