Double affine Hecke algebras (DAHA), also called Cherednik algebras, and their representations appear in many contexts: integrable systems (Calogero-Moser and Ruijsenaars models), algebraic geometry (Hilbert schemes), orthogonal polynomials, Lie theory, quantum groups, etc. In this course we will review the basic theory of DAHA and their representations, emphasizing their connections with other subjects and open problems.

The Financial Algebra Course engages students with real-world financial applications while maintaining deep mathematical rigor. The 10 units include: Taxes, Checking, Savings, Budgeting, Intro to Investing, Investing Strategies, Types of Credit, Managing Credit, Paying for College and Insurance.

This course will be heavily collaboration and project based. Students will be required to use google drive, docs and sheets on a regular basis. This course has a distinction of Algebra 1/Integrated 1 or higher. This is a good course for 11th and 12th grade students as an alternative to Integrated 3/Algebra 2.

Special Topics in Mathematics with Applications: Linear Algebra and the Calculus of Variations
Conditional Remix & Share Permitted
CC BY-NC-SA
Rating
0.0 stars

This course forms an introduction to a selection of mathematical topics that are not covered in traditional mechanical engineering curricula, such as differential geometry, integral geometry, discrete computational geometry, graph theory, optimization techniques, calculus of variations and linear algebra. The topics covered in any particular year depend on the interest of the students and instructor. Emphasis is on basic ideas and on applications in mechanical engineering. This year, the subject focuses on selected topics from linear algebra and the calculus of variations. It is aimed mainly (but not exclusively) at students aiming to study mechanics (solid mechanics, fluid mechanics, energy methods etc.), and the course introduces some of the mathematical tools used in these subjects. Applications are related primarily (but not exclusively) to the microstructures of crystalline solids.

OER Curriculum guide: Adult Secondary level: Algebra and functions

Based on the College and Career Readiness Standards in Action- 25% of higher level math instruction should be spent on Algebra and Functions. This includes Interpreting quadratic equations, using their structure to rewrite them in equivalent forms which serve a purpose. Also creating and solving quadratic equations to solve problems, both algebraically and graphically. They are to be able to re-arrange formulas involving quadratics and highligh specific quantities. (Guide to Effectively Managing Higher-Level Content Standards in Mathematics.)The amount of OER material available to assist instruction in higher level EFL math for adults is numerous, but searching for it often gets one tangled in the pedigogical instruction, with simplistic "real-life" examples, whereas adults with REAL "real-life" experience can appreciate the topics applied to broader world examples. This curriculum guide will give suggestions  for pre-lesson activities to stimulate prior knowledge, walk you through a lesson example, and hopefully whet your appetite for using OER's in your regular instruction.

"Students connect polynomial arithmetic to computations with whole numbers and integers.  Students learn that the arithmetic of rational expressions is governed by the same rules as the arithmetic of rational numbers.  This unit helps students see connections between solutions to polynomial equations, zeros of polynomials, and graphs of polynomial functions.  Polynomial equations are solved over the set of complex numbers, leading to a beginning understanding of the fundamental theorem of algebra.  Application and modeling problems connect multiple representations and include both real world and purely mathematical situations.

Vector Spaces First: An Introduction to Linear Algebra (4th Edition)
Conditional Remix & Share Permitted

Created for a first-year university course, this linear algebra textbook takes an unusual approach: it introduces vector spaces at the outset and deals with linear systems only after a thorough introduction to vector spaces. This approach is based on the authors' experience over the past 25 years that students often need more time to master vector spaces while traditional textbooks relegate the topic to the end of the course. In this way, these new notions at the heart of linear algebra that are often considered abstract and difficult in an introductory course can then be used in the rest of the course as well as in different contexts.
