The scientific method of Modern Science is based on the principle of Observation, Hypothesis / anti-thesis, Experimentation and Proof. Present form of Ayurveda is the outcome of continued scientific inputs that has gone in to the evolution of its principles, theories and protocol of healthy living and disease management. In this paper an attempt has been done to highlight various plants of Ayurveda and their exploration in the scientific research. The evidences of effect of different Ayurvedic plant extracts, formulations (herbal product, bhasmas etc) by in vitro, in vivo studies and clinical trials is extremely helpful in enhancing the wisdom of Ayurveda as evidence-based Indian system of medicine.

We believe that a part of STEM literacy is the ability for students to be aware of and think critically about the ways in which we are protecting or disturbing the natural world. We hope to use this unit to amplify the voices of Youth Activists of Color and support your 5th graders in developing their own voices as leaders in their community. The unit culminates with students presenting their learning to their community in order to expand their community’s understanding of environmental stewardship.

An important final caveat for students to understand is that once copied, species are not expendable. Biomimicry is intended to help people by identifying natural functions from which to pattern human-driven services. Biomimicry was never intended to replace species. Ecosystems remain in critical need of ongoing protection and biodiversity must be preserved for the overall health of the planet. This activity addresses the negative ramifications of species decline. For example, pollinators such as bees are a vital work force in agriculture. They perform an irreplaceable task in ensuring the harvest of most fruit and vegetable crops. In the face of the unexplained colony collapse disorder, we are only now beginning to understand how invaluable these insects are in keeping food costs down and even making the existence of these foods possible for humans.

All that life is called Biodiversity. Check out the Natural Resources Intern video to learn how high school students are improving biodiversity on an Eastern Oregon ranch. Then, in the Discovery Challenge video, investigate biodiversity at two different sites by collecting data at each sites. With your data, you will be able to compare the biodiversity at the two sites.
