This resource contains excerpts from President George Washington's so-called Farewell Address . In it, he cautions the country to avoid entering into "entangling alliaces" with other nations.Students will be asked to read the excerpts, answer two comprehension questions, and engage in research to broaden their view of American foreign policy challenges in the past 200 years.Note: This assignment was initially developed by an unnamed teacher/participatn in a Gilder Lehrman seminar entitled "The Constitution and Its Early Interpretation", conducted at Stanford University July 20-26, 2008.
