In this activity, students will explore 12 different career development events through a station activity. The purpose of this activity is for students to explore different educational and personal growth opportunities within agricultural education / FFA.Students will have 5 minutes to complete 5 general knowledge questions and 5 questions as a part of a practicum activity. Contests included in this lesson include: Agriscience (2022 theme), Agronomy, Ag Sales, Ag Mech & Tech, Environmental & Natural Resources, Farm & Agribusiness Management, Floriculture, Food Science, Livestock Management, Meat Evaluation, Nursery Landsdape, Vet Science. 

This course is designed to strengthen students' personal and group leadership skills. Topics such as public speaking, effective communication, human relations, parliamentary law, and group dynamics are covered. Parliamentary procedures are used to conduct orderly meetings. This interactive introduction activity to basic parliamentary procedure should be used after you have discussed/lectured/presented some basic ideas of parliamentary procedure. Overview:  This lesson is an exploration of dysfunctional team dynamics, and healthy traits of teams who overcome those negative influences.  Over five standard class periods, students will review dysfunctions of a team, watch 45 minutes of the movie Miracle, review healthy functions of a team, watch the remainder of the movie, answer discussion questions, and write a summative essay. Leadership Development Events are the contests within FFA that capitalize on students’ experiences and skills in speaking events. This activity introduces students to a handful of the many events that they can participate in within their FFA districts, state and national levels. 

Overview:  Presented in five consecutive standard-period classes, students will think critically about an experience in their lives that have made a lasting, positive impact for which they are grateful.  Students will write and hone rough drafts, give and solicit peer review and teacher critique, and develop a three-minute oral presentation of the final draft to their class.  Lesson by Jarvis L. Career videos show the types of work in which individuals employed in a career field, cluster or pathway are engaged. Nebraska Career Education, in cooperation with the Nebraska Departments of Labor and Economic Development, offers an array of virtual career tours of Nebraska-based businesses and industries. Discussion guides for the teacher and viewing guides for students have been developed for each career tour. These virtual industry tours provide a unique opportunity to get a glimpse inside Nebraska-based industries without leaving the classroom. Interviews, tours of the business environment and “pop-up” information and statistics on job markets, salaries, and educational requirements are part of each career cluster’s videos.

Presented in five consecutive standard-period classes, students are invited to contribute to the This I Believe essay-writing project by writing and submitting a statement of personal belief.  This is a challenging, intimate statement on one’s beliefs and one’s own daily life philosophy, considering moments when belief was formed, tested, or changed.  Written by Jarvis Reed.
