Biosecurity is an essential part of maintaining a herd's health as well as the profitability of the operation. This site provides easy to use and comprehensive resources for assessing the current biosecurity protections in an operation, an example of a biosecurity plan, a template for creating a biosecurity plan, and information on communicating to stakeholders about a crisis.

Nebraska Agriculture in the Classroom is pleased to provide seventh – ninth grade students enrolled in an Introduction to Agriculture course in agricultural education with Discover Nebraska: Agriculture Edition. This resource aligns with Agriculture, Food, and Natural Resource Standards (AFNR).

Discover Nebraska: Agriculture Edition will spark conversation, build knowledge, and expose students to agriculture in Nebraska. This resource will stimulate students to explore and learn more about the news and to pay attention to the news they see and hear outside of school. Relevant and accurate information is presented in a weekly reader style magazine to build agricultural literacy – awareness, knowledge, and appreciation – by providing the first of its kind agricultural literacy resource to all agricultural education programs in Nebraska.

Each reader is accompanied by more than sixty pages of Teacher’s Guides broken into Bell Ringers, Discussion Prompts, and Lab Activities. These guides allow learning to take place for more than one class period as educators are encouraged to use each reader per quarter.

STUDENT LEARNING OBJECTIVE: Students will be able to analyze the importance and applications of soybeans in animal feed production and evaluate its impact on livestock nutrition. MEASURABLE ACHIEVEMENT GOAL: Students will create a detailed infographic that illustrates the journey of soybeans from field to animal feed, highlighting its nutritional components, processing methods, and benefits for different types of livestock. Overview:  A dozen Nebraska Ag teachers contribute to a thread asking about all aspects of successful livestock labs in other towns. They discuss town/city relationship and regulations, animals, enclosures, unforeseen successes and speed bumps, etc.

Designing livestock facilities involves a lot of knowledge, research, and infering about the animals behaviors as well as human behaviors. In this lesson, students will receive a scenario of livestock that they are not familiar with and using their knowledge as well as research will design and build a model of their facilities.
