    Overview

    In this activity, students will review vocabulary relating to the body and parts of the body. Additionally, students will practice talking about health and how they stay healthy.

    Healthy Living / Gesundes Leben

    Description

    In this activity, students will review vocabulary relating to the body and parts of the body. Additionally, students will practice talking about health and how they stay healthy.

    Healthy living and outdoor activities are important in German speaking countries.  Gesundes Wohnen und Outdoor-Aktivitäten sind im deutschsprachigen Raum wichtig.

    • Standard 1.1: Students engage in conversations, provide and obtain information, express feelings and emotions, and exchange opinions.
    • Standard 1.2: Students understand and interpret spoken and written language on a variety of topics.
    • Standard 2.1: Students demonstrate an understanding of the relationship between the practices and perspectives of the cultures studied.

    Warm-Up

    1. Parts of the Body Pictionary with pre-made flashcards.

    2. Divide students into two teams.

    3. Decide which team will go first and have one team-member choose a card and begin to draw on a big or small whiteboard for their team. 20 seconds per card.

    Main Activity

    Set the Gesund Leben Karten upside down in the middle of a table.

    3. Students will then try to guess what the student is describing in German.

    • Read Can-Do statements once more and have students evaluate their confidence.
      (Use thumbs up/thumbs down or download our student cards.)
    • Encourage students to be honest in their self-evaluation.
    • Pay attention, and try to use feedback for future activities!
