About me
I am a Media Coordinator and Department Chair at David W. Butler High School in Matthews, North Carolina, a part of Charlotte-Mecklenburg Schools. I serve as school webmaster, tech contact, Apple and Google Administrator, and inventory coordinator. I earned my Bachelor's Degree in English from Clemson University and my Master of Library and Information Science degree from the University of South Carolina. I have over 21 years of experience as a media coordinator in all levels - elementary, middle, and high. I have achieved National Board Certification in Library Media Early Childhood through Young Adult; and in 2016 I successfully renewed my National Board certification. I have presented at local, state, and national conferences, including presenting at the American Association of School Librarians national conference. For the past three years I have been a mentor and coach with North Carolina Digital Leaders Coaching Network, a part of the Friday Institute at North Carolina State University. In 2014 Butler students, under my guidance created a video submission for the Belk Bowl Innovation Lab Contest and won a $75,000 grant for remodeling the Butler Media Center. I am a certified Microsoft Innovative Educator and member of several organizations including, North Carolina School Library Media Association and North Carolina Technology in Education Society.
