About me
My background is in microbiology, virology, bioinformatics and molecular biology. I have actively contributed to the fields of metagenomics, infectious disease surveillance, viral population dynamics, bioinformatics programming development, and education and outreach. Currently I teach and work as a computational microbiologist on metagenomics and metatranscriptomics projects related to bioremediation and development of environmental point of care systems and workflows to develop genomics-based metrics of environmental system ‘health’. I have a certificate in biostatistics and epidemiology to facilitate teaching and collaborations and teaching in the field of epidemiology and plan on working toward an MPH in Biostatistics and Epidemiology in the future. I currently teach at Anoka Ramsey Community College where I can incorporate research datasets and informatics training into current department curriculum needs including but not limited to: general/cell biology, microbiology, virology, public health, infectious diseases, anatomy and physiology, and epidemiology.
