About me
I am Maya Martin a Sophomore English Language & Literature major with a concentration in Pre-Law and Paralegal Studies attending Fayetteville State University and hailing from Charlotte, North Carolina the Queen City.
At the illustrious Fayetteville State University, I have genuinely cherished learning in my Historically Black College and University(HBCU) environment. My astonishing campus has allowed my work ethic and drive to grow expeditiously. Due to this, I have begun participating in a multitude of extracurricular activities that give me the opportunity to continually and purposely better myself.
To expand further, currently, I humbly serve as Sophomore Class President, Legislative Committee Chair, UNC Association of Student Governments Liaison (ASG) consecutively, ASG Campus Outreach Committee Secretary, Honors Scholar Association Member, Executive Secretary for the College Democrats, Assistance Secretary for the NAACP, Pre Law Society Social Media Coordinator, and Residence Life Assistant. I have also won second place in the Women's Virtual Conference for my research paper titled; "COVID-19 Influence on the Birthing Experience" and I was featured in an ABC 11 news story about attending an HBCU.
Additionally, as a student leader, I advocated for voter registration, education, and transportation to polling locations. As an alumnus of the Mayor's Youth Employment Program, United States Conference of Mayor's Charlotte representative, Bradley, LLP intern, Biden/Harris, Patricia Timmons-Goodson/Senator Kirk deViere/Kimberly Hardy Volunteer, Cheri Beasley, Richard L. Watkins Campaign Volunteer. North Carolina Democrat Party Phone Bank Volunteer, and Stroll to the Polls Community Volunteer I take the lessons learned from these experiences to effectively educate myself and my peers about the voting process. Furthermore, I aspire to be an attorney and the first African American female Governor of North Carolina. Finally, I live myself by the golden rule, "Do Unto Others as You Would Have Them Do Unto You".
