Many students learn math from examples/practice problems. While going through the solution to a problem, students are often faced with several issues. They may not see the connection between the concept taught in class and the solution. Others may not understand the solution because a step is missing or there are insufficient explanations. The main goal of this exercise book is to address these issues to help students learn the material more efficiently and get better results. The book is for students taking a first course in linear algebra. It contains a wide variety of problems with very detailed solutions, and it is self-contained, as the summary for every concept is provided.

Brought to you by Elizabeth Stapel and purplemath.com, this collection of learning modules contains over 100 mathematics modules designed to teach beginning, intermediate, and advanced algebra concepts. Some algebra topics include graphic linear equations; adding, subtracting, multiplying, and dividing polynomials; and solving linear and literal equations. Intermediate algebra topics include domain and range, even and odd functions, factor theorem, and solving systems of non-linear equations. Finally, advanced algebra topics include complex fractions, complex numbers, matrix addition and subtraction, and partial fraction decomposition. This is a great reference and teaching resource for teachers and students of introductory algebra courses. This is an especially good resource for teachers looking for in-class illustrations of fundamental algebra concepts.

The Inquiry-Oriented Linear Algebra (IOLA) project focuses on developing student materials composed of challenging and coherent task sequences that facilitate an inquiry-oriented approach to the teaching and learning of linear algebra. The project has also developed instructional support materials to help instructors implement the IOLA tasks in their classrooms.

This course is a first course in algebraic number theory. Topics to be covered include number fields, class numbers, Dirichlet's units theorem, cyclotomic fields, local fields, valuations, decomposition and inertia groups, ramification, basic analytic methods, and basic class field theory. An additional theme running throughout the course will be the use of computer algebra to investigate number-theoretic questions; this theme will appear primarily in the problem sets.

The intention of this curriculum guide is to provide teachers with supplemental materials to use to support students in strengthening their skills in various concept areas that are crucial for understanding beginning algebra. The activities are broken down by skill with links provided below. This is intended as a way to provide students with engaging, primarily computer-based activities to get extra practice with material that is covered elsewhere in the curriculum. This collection focuses on simulations and games using the computer—some resources may be ripe for teachers to develop unique activities to accompany the simulation and some possible suggestions are included with the descriptions. This series is intended to be pick-and-choose.
In this Curriculum Guide:
Activities and practice with: Integers, Exponents, Order of Operations, Distributive Property, Expressions, Equations and Basic Graphing

Intermediate Algebra Student Workbook, modified by De Anza College's Professor Doli Bambhania, is based upon Intermediate Algebra Student Workbook, Fourth Edition, 2014, by Scottsdale Community College. The included content is designed to lead students through Intermediate Algebra, from a functions modeling approach, and to develop a deep understanding of the concepts associated with functions, from mathematical, computational and applications perspectives. The workbook assumes the knowledge of prealgebra, as well as topics surrounding linear and quadratic functions. Access to a graphing calculator is assumed and the use of one is required for some of the lessons and practice problems.

These lessons link the understanding of concepts in chemistry to skills learned in algebra II. Using systems of equations in solving problems, students are utilizing matrices to balance chemical reactions and direct and inverse variations. This fresh approach reinforces students understanding of the relationship between two disciplines that have traditionally been taught separately.

A First Course in Linear Algebra is an introductory textbook aimed at college-level sophomores and juniors. Typically students will have taken calculus, but it is not a prerequisite. The book begins with systems of linear equations, then covers matrix algebra, before taking up finite-dimensional vector spaces in full generality. The final chapter covers matrix representations of linear transformations, through diagonalization, change of basis and Jordan canonical form. Determinants and eigenvalues are covered along the way.
